There are not a lot of choices for lodging in Diniwid, but I
think there’s a good selection that can serve different tastes and budget. We
stayed at Orinda Boracay. It’s a simple resort/inn, fronting the beach with
courteous and well-trained staff.
Upon arriving at the hotel, we were given bottled water, asked to sit and register to check-in. In only a few minutes, we were already given our keys, a piece of paper containing the password for the wifi and the shuttle service schedule to D’Mall with the driver’s cellphone number. We were also told what time breakfast is served and that we can have it in the room, at the dining area or out front by the beach. I thought it very professional, organized and thoughtful of them to already give all these information upfront.
We got the standard room, which has two single beds, a small
television set with cable tv and a bathroom. The room and bathroom are a little
small, but clean. In the room, there’s a night table in the middle of the two
beds. There’s no cabinet to store bags and stuff so we just placed them on the
floor. It would have been good to have at least a place to hang wet towels and
swim suits. The bed is comfortable enough and the beddings are clean. They
provided towels, shampoo and soap in the room.
Some of the things I liked here are the Caticlan to Boracay
(and vise versa) transfer included in the room reservation (I reserved through agoda.com, good deal!), free shuttle service to D’ Mall five times a day and the breakfast by
the beach (also included with the room).
The breakfast choices are Filipino or continental breakfast. The serving
is good enough to keep you energized for a morning of swimming or sight-seeing.
We had our breakfast by the beach, and it was wonderful! You’ll have in front
of you, one of the best beaches (if not the best beach) in the world.
I will certainly not complain if I have this view with my breakfast everyday. |
One word, PARADISE. |
Orinda is beachfront, located in the middle of Diniwid Beach. They have lounge chairs and tables and chairs in front, where you can read a book or rest in between your activities. There were very few people in Boracay, and fewer in Diniwid, when we visited in November, so it was nice to have some peace and privacy. There are still vendors though, selling pearls or offering water sports, like in White Beach, but they’re not as aggressive here. They seem to attune their style with Diniwid’s more laid back and tranquil ambiance.
We came to Boracay for the beach so we don’t mind the simple amenities of Orinda. I would recommend this for travelers who are looking for value for money, an unfussy and relaxing place to stay. The good location, excellent service and value are enough reasons for me to stay here again!
