Sand, sea, sky at Diniwid Beach, Boracay Island. |
A close look at Diniwid's sand. |
I’m guilty of that. For some reason, on my past trips, I’ve always stayed on White Beach. So for my trip last November, I browsed the web for other options and got interested on Diniwid Beach. It looks just like White Beach with its fine white sand, blue crystal clear water
and wide-open blue sky. The similarity with White Beach ends there though.

Narrow pathway to White Beach. |
Diniwid Beach is on the far end of the island, past Station
1 of White Beach. You can actually go on foot from Station 1 to White Beach, if
you’re not afraid of walking a narrow path built around the rock formation,
right above the sea. The first time we walked this path, it was at night
so I didn't know how narrow it is. Knowing how it looks now, I wouldn’t
walk there again
when it’s already dark.
Scary! From the Boracay port, it’ll take around 30
minutes to get to Diniwid Beach by car.

I’ve noticed as Boracay gets more developed and commercialized, there are more choices available at different price points and different beaches in the island. Some people say Diniwid is how Boracay used to be - uncrowded, tranquil and all about nature. Others would say because of Boracay’s commercialization that it’s now spoiled and polluted but these same people still go every summer, don’t they?
